    Wage Rate: $15.00/hr
    Position Type: Year Round
    Position Status: Full Time
    Availability: Day Shift (5:30 a.m. - afternoons). Must be available to work weekends and holidays.


    Primary Responsibility

    Responsible for managing fitness facilities ensuring positive and friendly customer relations. Ensures facilities meet the needs of members and guests through service, equipment, and classes offered. Coordinate schedules for class offerings with trainers.




    Essential Job Functions

    • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
    • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
    • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
    • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
    • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
    • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work area on an hourly basis. Train staff to do the same.
    • Maintain complete knowledge of property.
    • Be familiar with all hotel packages, promotions, prices and rates.
    • Perform Opening and Closing Procedures which is outlined in appropriate checklists.
    • Maintain knowledge of Hours of Operation, Memberships, fees, services, Products and Merchandise.
    • Assist guest with Fitness Center Equipment.
    • Monitor Guest Safety.
    • Sell Merchandise and memberships.
    • Conduct routine inventories for Dir. of lodging and accounting.
    • Price Merchandise, according to guidelines established by Manager.
    • Display and Stock Merchandise. Remove Damaged/Soiled Merchandise.
    • Perform Closing Procedures which is outlined in our closing duty checklist.
    • Train and develop associates to follow St. Joe Club & Resort standards.  
    • Develop associates to grow in the department and company.
    • Conduct interviews and complete the hiring process on new employees.
    • Place orders for items needed/retail and code invoices for accounting.
    • Conduct a daily stand up session for staff during changeover to review company standards.
    • Assist director of Lodging with P and L analysis and reporting to resolve any discrepancies.
    • Work with marketing for any printed pieces/collateral as well as promotional items to boost revenues.
    • Work with trainers to organize classes and track commissions to be paid out.




    • Two years of supervisory/management experience preferred
    • Experience in fitness center preferred
    • Computer experience required including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
    • Excellent communication/organizational skills required.
    • Excellent guest/customer service skills required.
    • Area and Resort knowledge required.
    • Experience managing a multi-staff environment
    • Warm, enthusiastic manner, with excellent interpersonal, communication and guest relations skills
    • Degree in Hospitality or Management is preferred
